I was a NASCAR Tour guide for about a decade. During that time, there's no telling how many people I brought down into the Garage Area and The Pits. I enjoyed my job a lot. It made me feel good to educate someone on how a race works and what goes on, etc.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat... wait, now I remember all the travel, never mind.
Some of the most fun I had was giving away free stuff to the crowds.
I signed a lot of Start/Finish lines for luck.
One Indy 500, they assigned me about 20 models to work with for the event. No, I didn't have any fun, lol.
With Amanda & my sisiter, Karen.
In a lot of cities, we went GoKart racing.
When I went out to the campgrounds to hand out free banners, I also promoted ContraGear too.
I escorted Drivers to 'Meet & Greets' with VIP guests before the races.
When I was a NASCAR Pit Tour Guide, I traveled a lot. I started renting convertibles in every town I was in.
Hey, the company was paying for them, right? lol.
This Thunderbird was in Miami.
Cruising around Indy in a Mustang was fun. Look at how much luggage I had.
You'll see all types of characters at the 500. I knew I wanted a pic with this guy the moment I saw him.
Even though I always had Hot Passes to get in the Garage and Pit Road areas, I was always very nice to the Gate people.
They helped me out more than once. It pays to be nice.
I was in the centerfold picture of the magazine when they were covering the Indy 500. I'm dead center, red shirt, shooting video.
I was in a lot of Victory Lane winners' photos.
And being around winners never got old.
Aside from being a Lifeguard, working in NASCAR was the best job I ever had.
I occasionally drove camera crews and drivers around the different tracks across the country. Fun gig.
Kenny was the first Import Racer I worked with and he was great. He dedicated his Las Vegas victory to me. That's cool.
I did a lot of Public Appearances with Kenny and his race car. Enjoyed them all.
I toured several High School Automotive classes and gave a presentation about NASCAR and auto racing.
I enjoyed giving my presentation for all of the different classes at several different schools.
From one of my classes.
The students loved seeing my championship rings.
With Bart Conner, Olympic Gold Medalist.
I had to get a pic in this car. Great photo op for the visitors to the museum. Hats off to them.
Winner's Circle with Mark Martin and Jack Roush.
Winner's Circle with Jeff Gordon for the Pepsi 400 race in July.
